Short take from the cab: this is a machine built for mud and heavy loads. Artic joint with rubber-metal rings - almost no service and keeps traction as the bog gets worse. Locking diffs are dog-gear type, they lock solid and pull you out; be careful with the auto-lock mode though, it can try to engage when wheels are bouncing and that confuses things. Body has front-wall heater so clay and wet sand don't stick as much, there's a visual marker you can see in the mirror which helps when dumping at an edge, camera setup available too. Parking brake is on the driveshaft and there are hydraulic accumulators so the brakes hold even without pump pressure. Not a luxury cab, but controls are straightforward and service points are reachable.

Recently had the chance to operate the Caterpillar 777G, and I must say it's definitely a solid machine. The updated cab makes long shifts more manageable, with a more comfortable seat design. The engine's performance is impressive, maintaining good torque on inclines-though the fuel economy, while better, could still see improvement. The braking system feels reliable, giving a sense of safety during downhill operations. Would like if navigation and controls were more intuitive, but serviceability seems straightforward from checks. Overall, it's a reliable choice for demanding tasks.

I've been operating heavy machinery for years, and the recent electric upgrade to models like the Volvo A40 caught my attention. Using this hauler, I noticed the reduced noise level, which made longer operations much more bearable. The energy efficiency is commendable; charging takes under an hour for a decent usage span. However, hauling uphill with a nearly full load could consume a bit more energy than anticipated. Maintenance seems streamlined, thumbs up to Volvo for this.

Had the chance to test the 2025 A40 at the quarry. Handles rough ground about as well as you'd expect from Volvo. The suspension and the ergonomics help a ton on long shifts, less tired at the end of the day. The big win for me is the real-time display in the cab, lets you keep an eye on stuff without fiddling with old buttons and dials. One gripe, I wish they’d figure out a better way to tweak the seating - it’s adjustable but never feels perfect for tall drivers. Reliability hasn’t been an issue so far. Didn’t see the pricing, but it’s probably not gonna be cheap given all the gear inside. Maintenance looks on par with older Volvos, so that’s fine.

I've driven the 777G for a couple seasons on a big aggregate site. The Cat C32 ACERT and APECS transmission save fuel - the two economy modes actually work. Auto Neutral Idle and Engine Idle Shutdown cut idling time, and Speed Limiting helps on long hauls. Braking is solid: wet-disc brakes, engine brake option and automatic retarding give good control downhill. Cab entry is easier, seat is more comfortable and interior noise is reduced by about 50% compared with older Cats. Service access is sensible - grouped fluid points, ground-level checks and a master disconnect make routine checks quicker. Optional stuff like object detection costs extra, but the main package suits heavy use. Overall it feels tough and built for long life.

Been running haulers for 20+ years. The A40 Electric ticks a lot of boxes for me. Battery is 350 kWh and Volvo say runtime is about 4-4.5 hrs in most jobs, up to 7 hrs if conditions are easy. Fast charging 350 kW gets 20-80% in around an hour, so you can keep a shift going if you plan charging slots. Cab is quiet with low vibration, better visibility and guided entry - actually makes long stints less tiring. Service access from the ground and claims of reduced wear sound good; less time on service stands is a real win. Controls feel modern too: Dynamic Drive, 100% diff locks, energy recovery on the retarder - all help on steep, loaded runs. Mixed feelings only about charging infrastructure - you need DC chargers on site or you’ll be stuck.

Tried the Volvo A40 Electric a few days back. The operational performance is similar, if not improved, over its diesel predecessor. Navigating loose terrains? Absolutely steady. The charging options are flexible, but planning for prolonged tasks needs attention. A minor inconvenience is the charging station setup requiring specific compatibility. Still, it's a progressive step.

I've driven various heavy machinery over my career, but getting behind the wheel of the Caterpillar 777 was a new challenge. From the sheer size of this vehicle to its handling, everything demands respect. The cabin layout is practical, though climbing into it feels almost like scaling a small building. The turning ability surprised me, as handling something this size seemed daunting at first. But its reliability stood out most, as it handled slopes and turns with ease.

Recently drove the Caterpillar 777 and was quite impressed overall. The engine sure delivers power, handling loads without much effort. Inside the cab, I found the controls ergonomic and easy to use, though I noticed slight vibrations on rough surfaces. Value and performance considered, it’s a machine I'd trust in challenging operations.

Been operating the latest CAT 777 for a few months. Impressive hauling capabilities; handles heavy material with ease. The suspension does a good job smoothing out rough patches, but can't eliminate them entirely. The updated safety features are handy on busy sites. Overall, quite reliable.
