Ran the JCB 541-70 at a worksite recently. Performance-wise, it meets operational demands effectively. Yet, the tire specifications seem to add undue stress to the transmission, as observed during diagnostic checks. Maintenance is straightforward, but attention to details like lubricant choice can make a significant difference.

The Doosan DX55W from 2009 offers a utilitarian design ideal for general use. Its basic control layout is intuitive, and the reduced reliance on electronic components can mean easier maintenance. However, its aging design might not be as ergonomic as newer models. The straightforward layout lacks some features now standard in modern excavators, but it's a functional choice for those who value simplicity. While the lack of advanced suspension makes certain operations slightly less comfortable on rough terrain, its reliability remains noteworthy. The compact size is also practical for operations in narrowed spaces.

Got to sit in one of these brand new Cat 320s today. First time inside and honestly the cab feels kind of fancy but I'm not sure about all the new tech. No key-just a code and a start button, which is cool until it stops working. Ran it for a bit, it sounds quiet but doesn’t really feel punchy, definitely not as quick as some of the old stuff. The plastic fuel tank feels weird...maybe it won’t rust but still not a fan. Digging the ladder placement though, makes getting up there less of a pain. Motor feels small for the size, but they packed a lot of hoses back there. Plenty of room under the panels, maybe could throw in a bigger engine? Not sure yet if I’d pick this over older models, bit of a mixed bag so far.

I've worked with the 4CX on construction projects, and its torque and adjustable systems made tasks simpler. The fuel consumption aligns with expectations. The transmission smoothness enhances the usability, yet hydraulic response could be slightly improved in demanding settings.

Alright, I've spent a few weeks on the 320CL. Bit bigger than the regular ones, feels wide but that extra width does make it less shaky with heavy lifts. Original paint's faded and there are a few dents, looks rough if that matters to you. Ran smooth, no mechanical issues, but holy hell it's still dirty inside, coulda put in more effort cleaning it. Battery disconnect came in handy a couple times. Haven't used the radio - never works in these. Bucket teeth were pretty fresh though, so that's a plus. Not fancy inside but gets the job done. Would have loved if they fixed that missing lamp before selling it.

I've worked with the Caterpillar 304E2 for some time now. The machine generally performs well for various jobs, with its cab providing a comfortable experience. However, I noticed that the 304E2's hydraulic power feels slightly reduced when handling heavier loads compared to the older style models. This aspect could be considered when selecting a mini excavator for specific tasks.

Having had the chance to operate the Caterpillar 330, I found its performance in challenging conditions quite satisfactory. The hydraulic system responded fluidly, and the user interface, including adjustable settings for multiple operators, made it versatile. Although the seat could use additional cushioning for extended shifts, the overall ergonomics provided a good work environment.

I've had some hands-on experience with the Caterpillar 950G recently. The overall reliability and build quality is what you'd expect from Caterpillar. The engine does its job, but the air conditioner isn't as efficient as it could be - gets cool but not quite cold. Hydraulics are solid and responsive, which I appreciate. What stood out was the machine's impressive stability even under heavy loads. A few imperfections, like the tire wear being a mixed bag, but nothing too concerning.
